Last summer was our first summer in a long time to have a back yard, which was a really big deal for the kids. They had been wanting a slip and slide for years and they finally got one. Well, the very first time we hooked it up to the hose and turned on the water, the slip and slide popped and was useless. Seriously, they didn't even get one slide. So, this summer they HAD to have one to try again. Given our history of bad luck with slip and slides, we bypassed the fancy skim board model and went for the cheapo model. I think Garrison's experience sliding into bases for baseball has given him an advantage over the girls.

Brennan's softball team is called the Purple People.

Here is Brennan's fan club. Garrison is wearing his baseball uniform because his game was rained out just minutes (and many miles away) before Brennan's game started.

We checked out a mountain of books from the library and we're (me, G, & B) plowing through them. Garrison has already finished his summer reading for school, and finished the eight books that his friend let him borrow. Brennan is a big fan of the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. These books must have really taken off in popularity...we are 38th en queue on the waitlist at the library for the newest Warrior book. Brennan has gotten Garrison interested in them, too. In the picture above, Woody is taking a catnap on Garrison. The tiny speck of pink beside Woody is his Polly Pocket dress. That is his favorite toy, as he takes it everywhere with him. Every night around 10pm, Woody walks up and down the stairs with that dress in his mouth while it tries to get away. He's so fond of the dress, he has it in two colors - the other is lime. I think he may be a preppy cat because obviously his favorite colors are pink and green.

The kids have been asking for special family dinners, so we're experimenting with table settings.
